Why 1917 Should Have Won Best Picture At The Oscars

1917 is a movie that shows that special effects, sound effects, a well written story and choosing the right actors can lead to multiple Academy Award nominations and maybe multiple Academy Award wins. This movie is directed by Sam Mendes who also produced and wrote the movie. The film takes place during World War I as we follow two british soldiers named Lance Corporal Schofield played by George MacKay and Lance Corporal Blake played by Dean-Charles Chapman. Their mission is to travel out into enemy territory to give a message to Colonel Mackenzie to call off an attack on German troops that would endanger the lives of 1,600 British troops including Blake's brother. So our protagonists head out to stop the attack and along the way they find a German bunker that has been abandoned and later find out it has been booby trapped by the Germans and they get out just in time. But sadly this movie pulls out the twist card and kills off Blake leaving Schofield to deliver the message all by himself. This movie is very emotional and very interesting, I enjoyed the battles between Schofield and the Germans, it reminds me of the Medal of Honor games where you fight the German army by yourself. The special effects and sound effects are amazing and the music in the movie really moves your emotions. This movie is eye-grabbing, emotional, it's entertaining and it is a great film for history buffs like me. And I believe it is the best war movie ever and it should have won best picture instead of Parasite at the Oscars. I give 1917 five stars out of five.
